The whole club is on a development journey
We are a new committee, we have clear plan to improve the environment and develop the grounds for community use and with this the quality of football coaching, standard and diversity.
We inherited a 30-year lease for the current grounds in which we are housed. Ultimately this land is covenanted by the Earl of Sheffield estate, under the guardianship of North Lincolnshire Council (Our Landlord). Within our site we dug up an old cork tennis court which had been disused for many years, it has been an eyesore and an attraction for crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB).
Our vision was to restore this area and improve the local environment for both our members and the community which they are from and live within. It is our vision to re-engage the local community, the industrial workforce and their families within the club and that the club becomes a hub once again, as it was once before at the height of the steel industry when the grounds had cricket, football and athletics and was a proud and well used community asset, known locally in the 1970’s and 80’s as the home of Normanby park steel works sports club and lyesytes’.
Funders
Through the support of funders (FCC Communities, Football Foundation, North Lincolnshire Council, Humberside Police and Crime Commisioner), and the hard work of volunteers we have installed a brand new 7v7 3g service, rebound fencing and floodlighting, and accessed a grass pitch maintenance programme. We have accessed grants to improve indoor facilities (Public Health North Lincs, Persimmon Homes) to host a wellbeing area and counselling services (in partnership with RUBIKS), educational space, tuck shop, café and viewing area.
